Brainz R Us

As an artist and a scientist, I have always been fascinated by the interplay of form and function, of systems and their parts, of molecules and organisms.

My aim as an artist is to explore symmetry in form, light and color and the spatial relationships of shapes and objects. For me, the creative process leads to insight and meaning through the juxtaposition, association and combination of contrasting, disparate, and seemingly incongruous elements.

The paintings, executed in fingerpaints, crayons and glitter, are inspired by my favorite actors of the Golden Age of Hollywood. They are a loving tribute in light, shape and color. The subject matter comes from my love of the cinema and the choice of media comes from my love of toys. My passion for the cinema led me to pursue videography. I have been actively involved in public access television, producing a number of videos and participating in all aspects of television production. My love of toys includes my love of postcards. My photographs and graphics are postcard souvenirs of places, times, events or concepts. Videos are postcards in time, sound, motion and light. Whatever the subject matter, whatever the medium, I seek the eclectic, the peculiar, the union of opposites.
